High Five! Jupiter Trine Uranus In Fire Signs

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014

ball of lightThe scene is Mount Olympus, a heavenly grassy area atop a mountain with fantastic views in every direction.  You hear a rumbling, then a crashing, and before you know it, Jupiter is running up the mountain from one side and Uranus is running up from the other.  They meet in a resounding high-five that shakes heaven and earth.  After wrestling playfully for a moment, they collapse in laughter.
Jupiter:  This is going to be the BEST!
Uranus:  I know.  We’re going to have a great time.
Jupiter:  What’d you bring?
Uranus:  Assorted lightning bolts and a bolt-thrower.  See?
Out of an enormous pocket he pulls a complicated assembly which is essentially a catapult with a winch at one end.  Next to it he places a giant drum with lightning bolts peeking out the top.  The lightning bolts are making a buzzy, sizzling hum and emitting a neon glow in assorted colors.
Uranus:  I’m all ready to shock humanity with innovation and change.  It’s been a busy year already.  What’d you bring?
Jupiter:  This.
He pulls his hand out of his pocket in a fist.  Opening his fist, a warm glowing ball of light appears there, vibrating and jiggling with energy.
Uranus:  Very nice.  What does it do?
Jupiter:  It will grow anything you put out there.  It will infuse humanity with confidence and leadership ability.
Uranus:  Oh yes, that will definitely work.
Jupiter:  Let’s get started.
Uranus:  Got yer back.
They stand, back to back, and survey the landscape.
Uranus:  I see a community that needs to come together.  It’s close to cohering, but doesn’t really have a center.
Jupiter:  Check the moral structure.
Uranus:  Your job.
Jupiter takes out a spyglass and aims it in the direction Uranus is pointing.
Jupiter:  Hmm, it’s a church.  Or a temple or a mosque—I never can tell the difference from way up here.  Looks like some very nice people, but they’re too scattered.
Uranus:  No strong leadership.  Tolerant people and strong ethical fiber, but there’s no real center.  They need someone charismatic to bring fire.  Who shall we zap?
Jupiter:  That one, right there!  Yes, that one has what it takes!
Uranus cranks up the catapult and locks it down.  Then he pulls out a lightning bolt of medium size and places it in the catapult.  Taking aim, he releases.  The bolt flies true and lands smack on the Human Being in question, down on Earth.  There’s a shudder in the Earth’s emotional body as the feeling-field of the people near that Human Being adjust.  The Human Being is about to be noticed.
Uranus (gleefully):  Your turn!
Jupiter rubs his hands together and pulls them apart.  As he does so, the ball expands.  When it’s the size of a basketball, he lobs it down to Earth, where it bursts into a giant explosion of happy leadership, right in the heart of the Human Being.  The Human Being lights up, gets 10 ideas, and runs to tell everyone.
Uranus (applauding):  Again!
Jupiter:  Definitely.  What’s next?
Uranus:  Let’s build a utopian society, upgrade the morals of a world leader and send some truly innovative thoughts to a few people who are positioned to make a difference.  Then we’ll cause a sleepless night for someone who is ready to step into a leadership role.  And then we’ll hlightning boltead over to the tech industry and spark some ideas about inventions that make life better.  Then we’ll take a break for lunch.
Jupiter:  How long shall we do this for?
Uranus:  Till next June.  That should be enough, don’t you think?
Jupiter:  It’s going to be a busy year!
After another high-five neither deity seems able to stop themselves from, they get back to their fun pursuit.

Jupiter In Leo—Your Time In The Sun

Sunday, August 3rd, 2014

Jupiter is in Leo from July 16, 2014 to August 11, 2015

Jupiter planet image 2Jupiter expands. . . but can Leo get any bigger?
Leos may find their already-sunny personalities expanded this year.  If this sounds like both a good and a bad thing, that’s because it is.  You probably know a Leo (or two) who seems to take over every space they walk into, even when they swear they aren’t trying.  Do you cringe at the idea of this person becoming louder and more self-centered?  You may also know a Leo (or two) who could stand to grow into themselves and express themselves more, and the idea of that person taking up more space may be entirely appealing.

This year Jupiter’s passage into Leo will fuel the creative fires for Leos of all stripes, and lend confidence to any planet you have in Leo, even if it’s not your sun sign, but hidden a little deeper in your chart.

On being a benevolent ruler
At LionSpiritits best, the Leo side of human nature lives life royally, but with a constraint dictated by “noblesse oblige” or the idea that “nobility obligates.”  The privilege of being noble comes with the responsibility to do good with the power that’s been put in your hands.  Sometimes this is driven by a very basic Leonine desire to look good and behaving in a queenly or princely fashion therefore has its appeal.  Whatever reason is behind it, let’s encourage it in our local Leos this year.

My dear Lions and Lionesses out there:  has nature made you a natural leader, someone that others follow just so they can bask in your glow?  Have you noticed that your attention is powerful and that other people look up to you?  Then Leo, become the “gentle giant,” and put away your hobnail boots, treading lightly on the lives of those around you, especially those who are not as fortunate as you are.

Are you afraid of being a target?
Then most likely you have a de-emphasis on Leo in your chart or possibly any Leo planets you do have are struggling.  What to do?  Take on leadership this year.  Practice being seen.  You might even try—gasp!—performance.  Find a creative outlet and then. . . let your creativity out.  Don’t hold it in.  Let other people see it.  Yes, it’s risky.  Yes, you might get noticed.  Learn to receive attention.  It’s a great thing to be able to do.  Find a low-risk, small way to begin it and it will grow from there.  Play unselfconsciously, as children do.  Before you know it, you’ll get bitten by the creative bug and then you won’t want to stop.

Is it your time in the sun?
If you are a Leo, this should be a pretty good year for you.  This transit will be especially nice for Leos born between August 4 and August 15.  Additionally, Scorpio, Aquarius and Taurus people born in the corresponding week of their own month will be going through a time of expansion too:

Leos born August 4-15
Scorpios born November 4-15
Aquarians born February 1-10
Taureans born May 2-12

If you have Jupiter in Leo, i.e. if your age is going on a multiple of 12 (i.e. if you are just about to turn 24, 36, 48, 60, etc), then you are having a Jupiter Return year—a wonderful year of luck, charisma and leadership.  Not to say that nothing bad can happen to you this year, but anything bad that does happen probably would have been worse if it weren’t for your Jupiter Return in progress.  And anything good will be enhanced by it.  Look to the house where your natal Jupiter is placed—your native self-confidence in that area will be bolstered this year.

Enjoy your time in the sun!

Jupiter Trines Chiron: The Shaman And The Priest

Tuesday, May 13th, 2014

Jupiter and Chiron have met at the Edge of the World.  It’s a misty place where the physical world meets the metaphysical one.  Some of the passageways you already know about are there, such as the wardrobe that leads to Narnia, Dr. Who’s tardis and other magical entry-points.  Jupiter is wearing the long, flowing robes of a priest of no particular denomination—he looks like he could lead a dharma talk or deliver a sermon.  Chiron is wearing nothing but a piece of cloth wrapped around his middle, and carrying a staff with a fearsome creature’s face atop it—perhaps a totem animal, the face of an ancestor, or a defeated enemy’s head.  The two meet and shake hands firmly.

Jupiter:  Shall we get to work?
Chiron:  Yes, of course.
Chiron waves his staff and the air ripples, as if there is a heat-induced mirage.  Then a doorway appears, a portal.  Inside the portal there is mist—it is impossible to see very far and all the colors are in softened shades of gray.
Chiron:  Are they ready?
Jupiter:  On my side, they’ve been lining up for centuries.  And on yours?
Chiron:  There’s no knowing, because time doesn’t exist there.
Jupiter claps his hands three times, and suddenly there is a line of people extending for miles.  Each stands with hands at sides, eyes closed and wearing a simple white shift.  They are obviously asleep.
Jupiter (beckoning):  Come forward, please.
The first Human steps forward haltingly.
Jupiter:  What is your wish?
First Human:  I wish to relieve karma in my family line.  I have an ancestor whose pain I have been carrying and whose lessons I am to learn.  I wish to check in with this ancestor.
Jupiter:  Your wish is a fine one.  You may go to the portal.
First Human walks awkwardly to the portal, where Chiron awaits.
Chiron:  I have found your ancestor.  You may speak with her.  Step in and I will make sure you return safely to your waking life.
First Human touches his hand in gratitude and steps through the portal.
Second Human steps forward.
Jupiter:  What is your wish?
Second Human:  I wish to communicate with the spirit of my unborn child, to make a connection and to create a safe pregnancy and birth.  I wish to make a spiritual contract to help bring a life into the world.
Jupiter:  Your wish is a fine one.  You may go to the portal.
Second Human:  Thank you.  And she does so.
Chiron:  Your little one awaits you on the other side.  He says things may not turn out as you expect, and that you have to be patient, but he wants to be with you, so you may speak with him to arrange it.  I will make sure you return safely to your waking life.
Second Human eagerly crosses the threshold.
Third Human steps forward.
Jupiter:  What is your wish?
Third Human:  I have been wronged and I desire justice.
Jupiter:  Your wish is a false one.  If your desire is for peace, you can find that here.  If it is for punishment, you’d best go back to your waking life.
A look of anger crosses Third Human’s face.
Third Human:  I have been wronged!  I wish for life’s balance to deal out pain where pain was given!
Jupiter:  Your bitterness will not bring you peace.  Let it go and pursue your own joy.  The person who hurt you will find pain to match it elsewhere, and that is not your story to know.  In your story, you have the power to be the place where the pain stops.  Dream of that, and for now, return to your sleep and awaken refreshed and ready to begin again.
He touches the forehead of Third Human, whose face relaxes and who turns and stumbles away toward the Waking World.
Fourth Human steps forward, holding a large messenger bag.
Jupiter:  What is your wish?
Fourth Human:  I have letters I wish to be delivered to my younger self and questions for my older self.  I want to encourage my younger self to pursue my dreams and ambitions and to be brave in the face of the challenges I know are to come.  I also want to ask my older self for guidance in moving toward the best future I can have.
Jupiter:  Your wish is a fine one.  You may go to the portal.
Fifth Human steps forward.
Jupiter:  What is your wish?
Fifth Human:  I am consumed with jealousy.  If I could just find out if my partner is cheating on me, I could have relief.
Jupiter:  Your wish is a false one.  If your desire is for peace, you can find that here.  If it is for punishment, you’d best go back to your waking life.
Fifth Human starts in confusion.
Fifth Human:  But we made a promise to each other!  That promise has been broken, I’m sure of it!
Jupiter:  You do not own each other.  Love yourself first and then others.  If you cannot trust your partner, then empty your heart.  After it heals, seek to share love elsewhere.  And for now, return to deep sleep, and awaken to your waking life refreshed and ready to begin again.
He touches the heart of Fifth Human, whose face relaxes and who turns and stumbles away toward the Waking World.
As there are thousands of sleeping Human Beings in line, ready for guidance or some other connection with the world of spirit, these two will obviously be busy for the rest of this harmonious transit.

Uranus, Pluto, Who Invited Jupiter To The Party? And Who Said Mars Could Crash It?

Monday, April 21st, 2014

The world-changing square between Uranus and Pluto in Cardinal signs lasts from June of 2012 to March of 2015, and this month its effects are intensified by the addition of Jupiter and Mars, forming a Cardinal Grand Cross (sometimes called a Grand Square) in the sky.  This post is part of a multi-post thread exploring its meanings.  Missed the beginning of this thread?  Start here.

A true “clash of the titans” is happening in the Dreamscape.  The Great Edifice is crumbling (see parts one, two and three of this thread) and Pluto has grappling hooks and rope attached to it.  Uranus arrives in a burst of Aries fire.

Pluto:  How dare you interrupt me?  I was busy bringing down the Great Edifice!
Uranus:  I won’t allow you to unveil corruption unless it benefits the people.  We can work together only if what we do results in a more liberated populace.
Uranus throws a line up and grapples on from a different angle.
Pluto:  Are you telling me that you’re going to try and keep this structure up while I am trying to bring it down?
Uranus:  I am the rebel, after all.
Pluto:  I need to weed out the corruption in the system.
He digs in his heels and begins pulling.  The structure starts to topple.
Uranus:  Corruption does need to end, but I don’t agree with all your methods or your agenda.
He begins pulling too.  The structure rights itself.  Jupiter suddenly appears, in a burst of water like a water balloon exploding.
Jupiter:  Hi, everybody!
Pluto (grumpily):  Why do you always act as if we’ll naturally be glad to see you?
Uranus:  And who invited you to the party anyway?
Jupiter:  I don’t need an invitation.  I’ve stepped in to play the part of the Good Fairy and soften the blow for some people during the big changes you are causing.
Jupiter has brought more rope and a grappling hook of his own.
Jupiter:  This Edifice may fall, but it doesn’t have to crush people.
Pluto:  Are you saying your transits are always good?  Because that’s not what I heard.
Jupiter:  Well, strictly speaking, not exactly. . .
Uranus:  Always the exaggerator!
Jupiter:  Sometimes what I do is magnify whatever’s already happening.
Uranus:  By magnify, do you mean “blow it up?”  Because I’m in Aries, and I love explosives!
Pluto:  You are such a pyromaniac when you’re in Aries.
Jupiter:  I’ve invited a friend who can help us get into agreement about what we’re doing here.  He’s an amazing negotiator.
Mars appears, with his own grappling hook in tow.  He is dressed in a tuxedo, with immaculate hair and . . . white gloves.
Pluto (sarcastically):  Well aren’t YOU looking dapper!
Mars:  Sometimes proper manners and a well-turned phrase are all the offense you need in order to win the day.
Jupiter:  Are you going to kill us with kindness, just because you’re in Libra?
Mars:  Only if I have to.  It’s my firm belief that we can find common ground and negotiate an agreement that’s good for everybody.  And I won’t stand for less.
While talking, Mars has attached his grappling hook to the Edifice and taken up his position opposite Uranus, while Jupiter stands at the fourth wall, opposite Pluto.
Mars:  Now Pluto and Uranus—you don’t easily agree, do you?
Uranus:  That’s an understatement!
Pluto:  True.  But when we do agree, things change rapidly.
Uranus:  No doubt.
Mars:  But you both want evil rooted out and replaced by good, isn’t that so?
Pluto:  Yes, of course.
Uranus:  Naturally.
Mars:  Pluto, you’d like to air the dirty laundry, yes?
Pluto:  That is my area of expertise.
Mars:  Go ahead and do that, because Uranus can help by facilitating some truth-telling on the internet.
Uranus:  I rule the internet and I’m in Aries, so that’s a no-brainer.  Ok, I can line up with that.
Pluto:  I’ve already found the weaknesses in this structure, the fault-lines where the corruption is leaking out—
Uranus:  —And I’ve placed explosives in the cracks and we’ve detonated some.
Mars:  Then you’re well on your way.  Jupiter, how about if you put out some safety nets to catch the people who are sincerely well-intended?
Jupiter:  —You mean the casualties caught in the crossfire, the innocents?
Mars:  Yes exactly.  They need to be protected.
Jupiter:  And they need to be rewarded for using their intuition and getting out of a failing situation in time to save themselves.
Jupiter waves his hand and an elaborate structure of nets and inflatable landing pads appears around the Edifice.  He then reassumes his station at his side of the Edifice, with his rope in hand.
Mars:  Then I’ll just get in position here at my side, with my rope and grapple.  (He does so.)  I’m going to trigger a lot of angry conversations among people involved in this.  Some people are going to have to wake up.  Others will need to back down.  I’m going to fight for peace and equality.
Pluto:  All right then, everyone’s in position?
They all nod.
Pluto:  Here we go!
As each deity pulls, the Edifice begins to crumble and break apart.  Its bright-red interior glows through cracks in its deep, glossy black exterior.  Inside, the faces of human beings can be seen.  Windows in the surface of the Edifice open and people begin jumping out of them.  Some land safely in Jupiter’s nets or on his inflatable pads.  Others hit the ground with a splat and die instantly.  Each person that lands safely is greeted by Jupiter.
Jupiter:  Congratulations, you used your intuition.  You’re safe now.
A small, dazed group of Human Beings is gathering off to the side of the Great Edifice, which is now not so great.  What will be their fate?  Watch for the next post in this series to find out.

Structure Creates Flow–Jupiter and Saturn Set Up Housekeeping

Thursday, December 12th, 2013

Imagine a cozy domestic scene, in a kitchen filled with good smells.  Jupiter (a large matronly lady with an infectious warmth) is whipping up something nice at the stove while Saturn (a stern-looking but determined fellow with a beaky nose) gathers tools for a construction project.  They are both humming at their work.

Jupiter:  Ready for some muffins?
Saturn:  Almost.  I’ve got to fix the plumbing first.  (rifles through his tool box)
Jupiter:  We’re going to have the best housewarming ever.
Saturn:  The house will certainly be warm if I have anything to say about it.  And not at all wet.  (he gets down on the floor, opens the cabinet under the sink and applies a wrench to the plumbing)
Jupiter:  You’ve inspired me—I’ve created a new recipe.  Here, try it—(she puts a morsel in his mouth).
Saturn:  (mumbles around the mouthful)  Wow, that’s really good!  I have no criticism to offer.
Jupiter:  You?  No criticism?  That’s really saying something.  Thank you.
Saturn:  You are open to my criticism, which makes me feel relaxed.
Jupiter:  Well that’s because you get it.  You get it about the importance of a happy, relaxed home life.  When you provide for our home, I feel supported.  It makes me want to do even more nice things to make our place more comfortable.
Saturn:  Which in turn makes me want to do the same.
Jupiter:  Right now I’m wondering why we ever argue.
Saturn:  We represent very different principles.  I’m about structure, accountability, diligence and achievement.
Jupiter:  And I’m about fun, growth, and being open to possibilities.
Saturn:  You do sometimes make promises you can’t keep, but I’m not really noticing that right now.  Right now all I want to do is fulfill on your promises, because I’m enjoying the way you make me grow.
Jupiter:  That’s nice to hear.  And you sometimes can be a real stickler, making demands about the bottom line, and pressing me for deadlines.  I’m not very good with deadlines, but when you provide the structure and integrity, I can meet them.  Together we produce less than I’m capable of promising—
Saturn:  —but together we produce something real, and it’s better than what I’d promise on my own.
Jupiter:  Exactly!
Saturn:  And thus real, concrete growth is possible.
Jupiter:  Instead of just hot air—  (wink)
Saturn:  —and pessimism!  (wink)
Jupiter:  I think it’s because right now you’ve decided to trust me.
Saturn:  More accurately, I’ve decided to trust my own instinct about you.  And my instinct tells me to relax, because everything you do tells me you respect my needs for restraint and competency.
Jupiter:  And everything you do tells me you value the enthusiasm I bring and the growth I long for.  Thank you for that.  Big hug!
Saturn:  You know I’m not really into the huggy thing.  But I’ll submit to it anyway.
Jupiter:  Mr. Crankipants!
Saturn:  Madam Thing!
They share a brief squeeze, during which Saturn tears up and Jupiter pretends not to see it.  Then each goes back to what they were doing, feeling supported and appreciated and with a good will.

Is this conversation happening in your home?  Perhaps it should be!

This friendly alignment between Jupiter and Saturn can allow us all to pause and appreciate the structures we often take for granted and the good things they bring into our lives.  Speaking that appreciation aloud to the strong-but-bristly providers in our lives (you know—the ones who build the structures that make life run) can relax their bristles and also open up everyone in the situation to experiencing more joy, happiness and emotional connection.  Spread the love!

This lovely trine between Jupiter and Saturn began in July of 2013 and finishes in May of 2014.  Enjoy it while you can!  Especially if your birthday falls into these dates:

Is Jupiter Your Good Fairy?

Saturday, November 30th, 2013

You probably know that you go through big transitions at times when the outer planets in our solar system trigger something in your chart.  Those planets are Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Chiron, Saturn and Jupiter.  As the fastest of the outer planets, Jupiter moves at a speed that brings it into aspect with planetary combinations already in progress.  When those planetary combinations are challenging, Jupiter can act as the “good fairy” that blesses where others are cursing.

This Happened in 2009
Let me illustrate this with an example. In 2009, Chiron and Neptune were traveling together in late Aquarius, blending their themes of wounding/healing (Chiron) and spiritual expansion (Neptune). This was a really big deal at the time and I wrote several posts about it:
Neptune Conjunct Chiron: Eighteen Months of Spiritual Healing
Neptune and Chiron Ask You To Bridge Heaven and Earth

By May of 2009, Jupiter had joined the party, and I wrote a 3-part series of posts about “Rejoining the Beautiful and Loving Human Family” because this triple conjunction was in Aquarius:  May’s Triple Conjunction of Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter.

In 2009, Chiron and Neptune were causing many people to face a deep, spiritual wound in themselves–with the intent to heal it once and for all.  When Jupiter joined Chiron and Neptune, a quality of hope entered the picture and the burden was lightened considerably.  If you have anything in your chart in 26 degrees of Aquarius, Scorpio, Taurus or Leo, you would definitely have felt this.  Jupiter was acting as your Good Fairy.

So What Do I Mean By The “Good Fairy?”
In the story of Sleeping Beauty (which by the way, is a fairly iconic fairy tale with many properties that fairy tales typically have), there is a “bad fairy” and a “good fairy.”  Here’s how it goes. . .

At the birth of the baby princess, the King and Queen invite all the fairies to a christening so they can bestow gifts on the child.  The fairies show up and shower the princess with many blessings, mostly in the form of personality traits, like Charm, Grace, Wisdom, Wit, Patience, Beauty, and so forth.  They are almost done when the bad fairy shows up.  In some versions, she’s not actually bad, she’s just angry because they forgot to invite her.  In the Walt Disney version, she’s just plain bad.  She shows up in her black carriage drawn by bats, sweeps in and curses the baby princess: “When she’s 16, she’ll prick her finger on a spindle and DIE!!!!”  After the bad fairy leaves, there’s one final good fairy who hasn’t had a chance to give her blessing.  The good fairy says, “I can’t undo the curse completely, but I can soften it.  When she’s 16, she will prick her finger on a spindle, but instead of dying, she’ll sleep for 100 years—oh and by the way, everyone else will sleep too, so you won’t even notice—and then she’ll be awakened by true love’s first kiss.”

Naturally, all this comes to pass and the story ends with a royal wedding, as such stories do.

How Does the Good Fairy Affect Transits?
The Good Fairy can’t stop the difficult parts of the transit from happening.  After all, that would deprive us of valuable life lessons.  But the Good Fairy can fill you with the confidence to get through them.  The Good Fairy is a voice within you that says, “It’s going to be ok.  I can grow from this.  I am bigger than this.  I am strong and competent.  I can handle it.”  You will feel that everything is going to be all right, even if you can’t explain why you feel that.

Your experience of Jupiter as the Good Fairy can differ depending on whether Jupiter appears on the scene early or late.

When Jupiter appears early, and is followed by a crescendo of challenge as the other two, more difficult planets ramp up, it can lead you to bite off more than you can chew, due to overconfidence.  You have to deliberately hold back and also allow that confidence to accumulate, so it will carry you through the part after Jupiter has moved on and is no longer buoying you up.  Knowing that the challenges will continue beyond the period of hope can let you know to approach with more caution than you may be feeling—and that kind of golden information is one of the best reasons to get an astrology reading.

When Jupiter appears late, it can be like the light at the end of the tunnel.  The beginning of the transit is the most difficult part, and you have to get through it yourself, but you’re rewarded in the middle by the arrival of Jupiter, along with a surge of confidence that carries you across the finish line.  Jupiter fills you with hope and strength, as you hear him cheer, “I knew you could do it!  Now let’s finish this!”  Finding out that Jupiter is about to involve himself before he actually does can also give you hope—another excellent reason to find out about your transits for the year before they begin.

Now Jupiter Is Blessing Pluto and Uranus
If you’re wondering why I’m telling you this, of course it’s because it’s happening right now.  This year, Pluto and Uranus are traveling in a square to each other, which began in 2012 and lasts until 2015.  This is a very challenging combination and many people are experiencing it.  It’s putting people through really big changes, some of which are emotional and some of which are intellectual.  The Pluto part is an intense, full-scale metamorphosis, bringing up issues of power and control as the part of you its triggering goes through a death-and-rebirth experience.  The Uranus part is a paradigm shift—a reframing of everything you thought you knew and understood about the part of you being triggered.  You’ll feel this in the area of life covered by the planet in your chart that’s triggered (Venus = relationships, Saturn = career, Sun = identity, and so on).

Uranus and Pluto began their square in 2012 and won’t be done until 2015.  These are only the most intense years of a larger patch of time—when we look back on this, it will probably define the teen-decade of the 21st century, much the way Uranus and Pluto’s previous connection defined the 1960s.  It’s affecting people with planets in 8 to 15 degrees of all four Cardinal signs (Capricorn, Aries, Libra and Cancer).  You can read about it here:  Uranus and Pluto Topple the Great Edifice.

Jupiter catches up with the Uranus/Pluto-square-in-progress and “runs with the big boys” from August of 2013 to June of 2014.  The result is that Jupiter blesses all the people who are struggling to transform (Pluto) themselves and revolutionize (Uranus) their lives.

Astrologers are very good at making dire predictions—but what use is that unless they can also tell you when is the BEST time to pursue new ventures?  I’m just the astrologer to let you know that this year, from June of 2013 to June of 2014 is a great time to start a new business or any project you want to go really smoothly.  And that’s because there is a very auspicious alignment of planets building up in the sky.  I’m telling you about it because it’s approaching its peak and I want you to be able to take full advantage of it before it ends.

The alignment is a set of harmonious aspects among five planets:  Saturn, Neptune, Chiron, Jupiter and Pluto.  Each of these planets has at least two harmonious connections going on right now with others of the batch.  This piles goodness upon goodness so that the summer and fall of 2013 is a very lucky and auspicious time for new enterprises of all kinds, and that goodness flows right into the spring of next year.  Most of this harmonious activity is happening in Water signs, with Pluto in an Earth sign connecting nicely with those Water signs and adding some dynamic tension too.

What these planets are up to. . .
Neptune is in Pisces
, a sign it loves to be in, bringing a tremendous sense of flow to this dynamic.  Because Neptune is involved, we have access to oceanic feelings of communion and connection, and our imaginations are fueled.  Our powers of manifestation and “dreaming things real” is at a peak.

Pluto is in Capricorn and Saturn is in Scorpio.  This combination is called a “mutual reception,” as each planet is in the sign the other rules, making them “mutually receptive” to each other’s agendas.  This alignment is all about power, purging corruption, doing the hard work of vulnerable leadership, and living each moment as if it was your last.  I’ve written more about it here.

Chiron the Wounded Healer is in Pisces, bridging the gap between material and spiritual worlds, carrying information from the physical to the metaphysical planes and back again.  You can take advantage of this through prayer, manifestation and other practices that get you into alignment with your spiritual guidance.

And finally, Jupiter will move into Cancer on June 25, 2013, and will quickly get into trine with Neptune, Saturn, then Chiron, completing the Water circuit.  Jupiter will also oppose Pluto, and bring just enough tension into the dynamic to spur all that lazy Water to action.  Jupiter in Cancer is in its all-time favorite sign to occupy, bringing a warm, nurturing feel and encouraging growth gently, as a summer rain encourages flowers to bud and open.

How does this affect me?
If you have a lot of Water in your chart, this astrological activity should feel really good, as if the rest of the world is aligning with the flow that is natural to you.  You may find yourself experiencing luck and being noticed in ways that don’t make you feel overexposed.  If you have lazy Water habits (such as living in codependent relationships, overpowering others with your emotions or draining yourself dry to serve and nurture others), these habits may be indulged this year and you could end up with no progress.  But if you decide to live your Watery side in the best way possible (by being conscious of your feelings but not dramatic, and being intuitive without being invasive), you could find yourself at the top of the heap with very little effort.

And the really good news is that if you are starting a business this year, or having a baby, you can look forward to your “project” having oodles of good karma.  Some kinds of businesses are better suited to this than others; you can see me for a consultation if you’re ready to know more.

This time period is especially good for:

  • healers
  • artists
  • nurses and caretakers of all kinds
  • midwives, doulas, ob/gyns and those involved with birthing
  • hospice workers and those who to assist peaceful death
  • any job that requires compassion and human kindness
  • spiritual and psychic helpers
  • anyone who works with children
  • financial analysts and investors, anyone who works with debt but especially those who assist people in trouble with management of their debt, including bankruptcy lawyers
  • therapists, counselors and coaches, psychologists, psychiatrists and psychoanalysts
  • hypnotherapists
  • . . . and the list goes on.

Jupiter in Cancer: Endless Summer

Tuesday, June 25th, 2013

June 2013 to July 2014

Our old friend jolly Jupiter is about to move into Cancer—today, in fact.  This is such good news I had to tell you about it.

You might know that every planet rules a sign of the zodiac, which is called its “home” sign.  A planet is very comfortable when at home and it can express itself purely there.  But what you might not know is that every planet also has an exaltation sign—a sign in which it expresses itself the best.  In its sign of exaltation, a planet’s better tendencies are brought to the fore, while its worse tendencies are muted.  For Jupiter, that sign is Cancer.  But why?

At first glance, Jupiter and Cancer would seem to be incompatible.  Cancer is the stay-at-home type, while Jupiter is the wanderer.  Jupiter has a devil-may-care attitude, while Cancer bonds deeply and feels keenly.  Jupiter is fiery and extraverted; Cancer is watery and introverted.  To Jupiter, Cancer’s family ties may seem like shackles, while to Cancer, Jupiter’s inability to stick with things can cause feelings of abandonment.  In fact Jupiter’s home sign, Sagittarius, and Cancer share a difficult quincunx aspect, suggesting that they are as alien to each other’s ways as possible.

All this is true, and is even more reason why occupying Cancer solves some crucial Jupiter problems.  Like the tendency to roam and roam but never stick anywhere.  Like the perpetual sensation that the grass is greener somewhere—anywhere—other than right here.  Jupiter, when placed in loving, nurturing, bonding Cancer, retains all the warmth of the Big Red Planet’s gregarious personality, while gaining the ability to have fun with deeper human connection, instead of feeling trapped by it.  Jupiter in Cancer people love family life and make great parents.  They have a natural tendency to nurture the small beings around them into bigger, stronger ones—and they enjoy doing it.  If you are in a “12 year” this year (meaning you are turning 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72 or 84), this could mean you.

This summer and fall (of 2013) there’s a fantastic lineup of planets falling into a Grand Trine in Water.  Jupiter completes that circuit and will bring luck, charisma and opportunities to those who are born under it and those who incept businesses under it.

Those of you lucky enough to be Cancers will get a personal hit of Jupiterian self-confidence, expansion and growth especially if your birthday falls between July 1 and July 12.  In fact, the Aries, Libra and Capricorn people born in a similar week in their own month will have a similar experience:

Arians born March 30-April 9
Cancers born July 1-12
Librans born October 3-13
Capricorns born December 31-January 10

Jupiter in Cancer feels like endless summer, like those long summer days where you feel you are sitting in a field and you could lazily open a palm and ripe fruit at the very peak of its perfection will just drop into it.  You can feel the warmth and safety sink into your bones and you relax.  Deeply.  It’s like sitting in the lap of the Universal Mother, knowing all things will come to you in their time, and in the meanwhile, you can just be.

Ignite! 4 Ways Astrology Can Help You Discover and Pursue Your Inspired Career

Sunday, March 17th, 2013

In my Rocket-Fuel Your Career teleclasses this year, I’ve been talking about how astrology can help you get on track and pursue a career that’s right for you in a self-disciplined way.  So far, we’ve been focusing on Saturn and things have been rather heavy, but they’re about to get a whole lot lighter.  In the upcoming teleclass, I’m going to talk about how astrology can help you get inspired and find meaning in your career by pursuing what you love and radiating so much enthusiasm that you become a natural leader that others want to follow.  There are 4 ways your chart can help.

Jupiter, the Charismatic Leader in You
The red giant in your chart shows your natural leadership capacity—and any factors that may be restricting it or holding you back.  Jupiter is the planet of abundance, good fortune, hope, optimism, possibilities and sheer luck.  Luck is no accident—Jupiter is strong in the charts of individuals who just seem to have it easy, and (since everyone has Jupiter somewhere) you can learn to do what they do—but in your own way.  Jupiter helps you find your style of authentic leadership and because Jupiter’s great for marketing, promotion and sales, it’s an especially good thing for entrepreneurs to know about.

Neptune, the Visionary in You
Neptune in your chart shows your wishes, hopes, dreams and fantasies.  It’s easy to allow the Neptune side of you to remain a lazy dreamer instead of taking action on your visions, but once you become aware of your dream, you may find yourself caught up in its magic and inspired to take it on.  Neptune also speaks to the dream of your whole generation and your chart shows how you can incorporate that dream into your career, so you can reach (and positively impact) the people who share it with you.

Big Voice/Little Voice
Your chart reveals the natural tone of your Little Voice, the intimate voice you use to connect with other individuals in one-on-one interactions.  Your Little Voice helps you discover the message you are here to share.  Your chart also reveals the tone of your Big Voice, your broadcast-to-a-crowd voice, the one you should use when speaking to inspire a large group.  Your Big Voice is useful for marketing, promotion, sales, and gaining more visibility in your field.  This is another great piece for entrepreneurs and I’ll show you how to separate the two, so you can use each for what it’s good for, and also how to combine them to create powerful marketing materials for your business.

Who’s Your Daddy?
Every field of endeavor has a particular astrological “ruling planet” which brings life-experience, wisdom and very specific timing, offering you a clear path to success in your field.  In the teleclass you’ll have an opportunity to find out which planet is in charge of your field and find out what that planet wants from you.  Then you can cultivate or “worship” that principle in your life in ways that will get you unstuck and help you progress and thrive.

Chiron and Jupiter Uncover Pearls of Wisdom

Thursday, January 10th, 2013

January 10, 2013

Human Being is praying aloud.
Human Being:  I feel so lost.  Why will no god hear me?
Jupiter:  We hear you.
Chiron:  We are here for you.
Jupiter:  We noticed that you’ve lost something.
Human:  Indeed I have.  I’ve lost my wisdom.  I had a bag of pearls that I’d gathered all my life and they’re gone.  Completely gone.  Life makes no sense to me without being able to access them.
Chiron:  Nothing is ever truly lost.  Everything is kept for you.
Jupiter:  Wisdom gained is wisdom earned.
Chiron:  But to rediscover it, you’ll have to reexamine your past.
Human Being:  Why would I want to reexamine the past?
Jupiter:  You learned and grew through those experiences, you’ve gained those pearls of wisdom, but they’ve also become locked together like links in a chain that takes you into the past whenever anything triggers an old, trauma.
Jupiter hands Human Being a small leather bag.  Human Being opens it.
Human:  My pearls!  But look, you’re right, they are fused together.  Oh this is a hideous mess.  I can’t try to understand just one without the whole mass overwhelming me at once.
Jupiter:  Exactly.  Each pearl is an experience that contains hidden wisdom.  But they are locked together on this string—each one reminds you of another and another and another until you are overwhelmed.  You can’t draw on the wisdom of just one.  Your inner guidance can’t work while these are fused.
Chiron:  I’ll help you to loosen that string, and let the pearls of experience and wisdom fall free.
Jupiter:  Then you no longer have to get caught up in past pain in order to access your wisdom.
Chiron:  This has the wonderful side-effect of speeding your evolution as a soul who has lived many lives. . .
Jupiter:  . . . and allowing you to grow as a person in this life.
Human Being:  Ok, you’ve convinced me that it’s necessary, but how do I do it?
Chiron:  If you are willing to look inside yourself and ask yourself, “where am I split, where have I separated from myself?” then you can rejoin those parts of you that had been separated.  Bridge that gap.  Reconnect yourself to yourself.  Then you become whole.
Jupiter:  And then you find you are bigger, much bigger than you thought!
Human Being expands to twice his former size.  In his hand, the pearls begin to glow and separate, each finding its own shape.  Jupiter picks up one pearl and presses it to Human Being’s forehead.
Human Being (smiling):  I remember that.  I learned the importance of trust on that occasion!
Jupiter:  You did indeed!
Chiron:  And you get to keep that.
Jupiter:  And all the others.
Human Being:  Thank you!  And thanks for making it not hurt too much.

This square of Jupiter in Gemini and Chiron in Pisces began in July of 2012 and lasts until March of 2013.
